While ELP was certainly not my favorite prog group, this album in particular adds to the canon for one reason. It was an introduction to classical music for many a Keith Emerson worshipper back then. To many it opened musical doors they did not know existed. Many composers use that technique ya know. But I also want to comment briefly on your attack of Prog as a whole-godforsaken musical genre that it is.
LOL is adequate is dead on. Many of the prog groups Yes, Genesis etc were trying to expand musical boundaries. They all pushed the boundaries of musical and Lyrical expression in the rock format. Yet the critics like yourself :- are ok with certain visionaries but not others. So-who, after all, are self indulgent ones? Those trying to explore and push the boundaries of music to lead the way for others to discover and find inspiration?
Agree, but a D- is generous. Saw them in at an indoor arena and had to walk out for fear of an ear bleed. RIP, my man, but thank you hugely, Michael, for walking me through my painful memories of just how awful this ersatz pseudo intellectualization Rock was, and amen, thank the maker there were no imitators of notable scope.May 11, · 50+ videos Play all Mix - Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Pictures At An Exhibition (Video Enhanced) YouTube Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Full Concert - Tollwood Festival (Remastered) - Duration:
