If an anti-power-metal person would start a discussion with me claiming that bands in this genre of metal all sound the same, do not have personality, are boring and just ramble on with double kegs and sleazy singalong refrains, and held this album in his or her hand as an exanple - I would have absolutely nothing to defend myself with.
The evidence is undisputable. Reading a press statement about this album is pure and utter humor: " The band spent months adding arrangements and special touches to the songs, which resulted in a rich, complex album, which will carry the torch for European power metal from now on.
Turn the statement to the opposite, and you are closer to the truth. Run for your life! Oh, shine in this time Oh, shine 'cause you are mine Lookin' for memories I've spent all my life Searchin' for you I'll been crazy Now that I've found you, you'll stop doing smile 'cause I'll be starving for your soul I'll give you only a reason for cry Just wanna crash only your mind So you'll ask someone a way to escape But my revenge in a fearful pain Run for your life, for survive!
Oh, shine in this time Oh, shine 'cause you are mine 3. Sleepin' Coma Good morning! I'm not a dreamer Help, nobody comes to help me My destiny is lost Lost, leave me from this black game Today, I'm shouting for a help They were threatening me with the lights The lights, I've seen even my death Dressed up my sneers Help, nobody comes to help me My destiny is lost Lost, leave me from this black game Be quiet!
I don't wanna be your toy Go away! Having formed back in , they technically count themselves as a millennial power metal fold despite the somewhat late entry of their debut LP Last Sunrise , and the music contained within exploits all of the tropes involved while still managing to come off as fresh enough to have been realized back in the late 90s. Arguably the closest analogous band to their signature sound with a high degree of visibility would be that of Labyrinth and the closely associated Vision Divine, though the progressive elements are downplayed to the point of sounding a bit closer to lesser known, more Neo-classically geared Italian bands such as Seven Gates, Heavenblast and early Secret Sphere.
Although not really breaking any new ground, which probably lies at the heart of the mixed reaction that this album ended up receiving, this is a true powerhouse offering from a standpoint of execution and sheer impact. Following a dreary keyboard-driven prelude with the sounds of children singing off in the distance, blazing anthems such as "", "Last Sunrise" and "Net Love" break out the speed metal riffs and fancy Baroque-inspired keyboard noodling like it was going out of style sadly it was , while front man and former Athena vocalist Francesco Neretti wails away like a slightly less airy sounding Geddy Lee.
Other highlight moments that are maybe a tad less frenetic yet still plenty fast include the Gamma Ray-inspired lead off number "Broken Hopes" the principle riff is a dead-ringer for "Wings Of Destiny" , the ultra catchy cruiser "Snake's Game" and rhythmic quasi-progressive romp with a Mid-Eastern twist "Declaration Of A Chest". Those who eat up power metal-infused covers of classic 80s pop tunes will definitely find their rendition of Toto's "Rosanna" a winner as well.
