To avoid restricted airspace, Holland directed the aircraft in an extremely tight, steeply banked turn while maintaining a low foot 75 m AGL altitude. Approximately three quarters of the way around the turn, the aircraft banked past 90 degrees, descended rapidly, and hit the ground. Upon impact, the plane exploded and killed all four crew members.
