Actually for me I lost interest after the Intermission Ep…. Well dude perhaps this will serve as the impetus I need to review that deluxe edition. All The Fools Sailed Away is reason enough to listen to it. I dunno about this Piper deal.. Yeah lotsa Slang here too. Lotsa Leppard lately actually in general. You should see the giant pile of CDs that Jon sent me to listen to!
Randy Piper was in that stack. As I recall last week someone said he was slowing down with the purchases!! This IS slowing down! So as you can see, I was shopping smartly :. I would not expect anything less…. Thanks man. That album is so fucking good. Jesus we just had 30cm of snow here in the last 17hrs…practically shut down the whole city including the Landfill!!
After shovelling like crazy to keep up! Fortunately my neighbour has a snow blower and did my driveway this pm when I was at work after I shovelled at least 15 cm am today! Work smelled like poo for a couple hours. Esp when Mercury belittles the crowd for not singing on Save Me I think….. Homebound Train is a cooker man…. Also just noticed the cool picture thingy that changes every few seconds to show all the band members. Sometimes that slideshow feature works best.
And just to be clear, yes I include as part of the decade of the s, as a decade is from the year ending in one to the year ending on zero, so the decade of the 80s encompasses the years , hence Lock Up The Wolves, released in , is from the 80s. Got it? So I was really disappointed by Dream Evil, all in all.
I was excited when Lock Up The Wolves came out in , and was doubly-pleased when I got it on CD as a birthday gift from my girlfriend at the time, Melissa Valade — remember her Mike? The title cuts to all three albums are glorious rock anthems, but all of them are fairly slow-paced. Any others of the really good stuff on those albums are also slower songs, but they are still awesome. Maybe you were having a bad day when you first listened to it, and this forever impacted your opinion of it?
I find it really interesting that our opinions on his first three albums are the same, but are so flipped when it comes to his fourth and fifth efforts — you love Dream Evil, I hate it, and vice versa on Lock Up The Wolves. And I have always considered you to be a really good friend, ever since Mrs. Ah, and All The Fools Sailed Away might be slow, but it is an epic track and has more in common with a song like Egypt than any ballad.
My point is, fast tracks, slow tracks, ballads, epic songs, all of that lies many times in the eye ear? And in the end, you like what you like no matter how hard, fast or slow the music might be.
No beheadings here Jon. I like those songs too. Mystery might have been the first one I ever heard! But I still love it, and Rainbow in the Dark was just on the radio two hours ago! The guy just throws it down. Like, "You want some flat-out rock 'n roll? Not a problem. He knows how to play straight up, no fooling around, rock. Since I like hair metal I thought "Oh cool. I like hair metal and metal metal and I'm getting one of my favorite guys Ronnie to meet me halfway. Lock Up the Wolves was a one-off which makes it even more unique. Before and after this album, it was all about "We'll rock your face off" kind of music.
This lineup --including teenage guitarist Rowan Robertson-- wouldn't play together again, though Simon rejoined the band in It's a good album to play for someone who doesn't like Dio. If you want to ease them into it, play "Hey Angel" and then step back.
Dio usually kicked off their albums with a fast, fist pumping, air guitar shredding kind of song and this time it was "Wild One" that got the ball rolling. That ball didn't roll very far. They lost all momentum by the next track, "Born on the Sun. Not a good choice for the second song. Even "Hey Angel" 3 would have been a dumb choice for song 2 and it's all kinds of awesome.
Next is one of Dio's all-time best songs. Almost a ballad but not really.Type: Full-length Release date: May 15th, Catalog ID: 9 W1 Label: Warner Bros. Records Format: 12" vinyl (33⅓ RPM) Reviews: 5 reviews (avg. 89%).
